Points are given according to educational attainment, employment history in New Zealand, occupational registration, and wage rate. The pay rate is at or above the median wage, sometimes 1.5 to 3 times the median wage.
Key Steps:
Expression of Interest (EOI): There is a preliminary filter called Expression of Interest to ensure the number of applicants for skilled migrant visas does not exceed available spaces.
The applicant still has to satisfy all the small-print specifications and produce documents that confirm claims made in the "EOI" by completing an application for residence within a specified deadline.
Invitation to Apply (ITA): If the "EOI" meets the pass mark, Immigration New Zealand will subsequently issue an Invitation to Apply.
