The Residence from Work Category aims to facilitate the issuance of residence class visas to individuals whose skills are in high demand by employers in New Zealand, to those with extraordinary talent in the arts, culture, or sports, to those employed in sectors where there is a documented shortage of certain occupations in New Zealand, and to religious workers. A Residence from Work Visa requires an applicant (and their family) to pass rigorous health and character tests, as well as, in some situations, an English language proficiency test.
Accredited Employer Work Visa
This visa is intended for those who want to live in New Zealand and have a skill that a New Zealand-accredited employer requires. You can apply to become a permanent resident of New Zealand after two years of employment with that employer.
Talent (Arts, Culture, Sports) Resident Visa
This visa is intended for those who have remarkable potential in the arts, sports, or culture who wish to establish residency in New Zealand. You must be 55 years of age or younger, and you cannot include a partner or dependent children in your work visa application; however, they can apply for visas depending on their relationship with you.
Religious Worker Resident Visa
Religious organizations can apply for Work Visas for religious workers after they have been in New Zealand for at least three years.
Green List
The Green List includes a limited number of exceptionally qualified roles that are in great demand worldwide and for which there is a shortage in New Zealand. Certain jobs on the Green List may be eligible for residence after working in New Zealand for at least 24 months.
In most situations, opportunities for residence arise after two or three years of satisfactory employment. However, it’s essential to remember that the criteria for eligibility can change, including age, health, marital status, employment circumstances, and the policies themselves.
